200-HOUR YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

Learn the craft of teaching yoga.

A comprehensive 200-hour training in anatomy, philosophy, sequencing, teaching methodology, somatics and the practical skills needed to work confidently with real people.

Train within The Be Collective in Sussex with an experienced teaching team, a small cohort and ongoing mentoring throughout your training.

HOW THE 200 HOURS WORK

A training built around practice, study and teaching.

The course combines in-person training, guided home study, observation, teaching practice and mentoring so that the 200 hours build gradually into something you can actually use.

01

In-person training

Study together in Sussex through practical workshops, teaching practice, discussion, movement, anatomy and applied learning.

02

Teaching from the beginning

You’ll begin practising the skills of teaching early in the course, building confidence through repetition, observation and feedback.

03

Study between modules

Reading, reflection and guided assignments help you integrate anatomy, philosophy, sequencing and teaching methodology between training weekends.

04

Observe real classes

Training inside The Be Collective gives you the opportunity to watch experienced teachers work with different groups, bodies and levels of experience.

05

Mentoring and feedback

You’ll receive ongoing guidance as your teaching develops, with space to ask questions, reflect on your progress and refine your own approach.

Your 200-hour qualification

Successful completion of the training gives you a 200-hour yoga teacher training qualification and the foundation to begin teaching professionally or continue into further specialist study.

OUR APPROACH

Strong practice, taught through a therapeutic lens.

Our teacher training is rooted in a deep respect for asana, movement and the physical practice of yoga, while placing equal emphasis on how yoga affects the nervous system, attention, behaviour and lived experience.

Bryony has worked in yoga therapy for almost a decade, alongside many years of teaching and teacher training. That background shapes the way we teach at The Be Yoga Academy: curious, embodied, evidence-informed and attentive to the person in front of us.

Embodiment & somatics

Explore interoception, proprioception, felt experience and somatic approaches that help students develop a more nuanced relationship with their own bodies.

The nervous system

Learn how stress, arousal, attention and regulation influence practice, and how movement, breath and rest can be taught with greater sensitivity.

Contemporary neuroscience

We bring current thinking around pain, perception, stress, learning, behaviour and neuroplasticity into conversation with traditional yoga.

Movement with purpose

Strong asana still has an important place here. You’ll learn to teach strength, mobility, balance and challenge with clarity, adaptability and an understanding of why you are asking the body to do something.

Working with the individual

Rather than applying one ideal shape to every body, we look at variation, context and appropriate adaptation so that teaching becomes responsive rather than prescriptive.

Rest as part of practice

Breath, meditation, restorative work and quieter practices are taught alongside dynamic movement, giving you a broader toolkit for different people and different moments.

A broader definition of good teaching

We want graduates to understand more than how to lead a sequence. We want you to understand bodies, nervous systems, context and people — and to leave with the confidence to make thoughtful teaching decisions rather than simply repeat a formula.

WHERE THIS CAN TAKE YOU

Yoga can become part of your working life in many different ways.

Our first teacher-training cohort began in 2016. Ten years on, our graduates are teaching in studios, running their own spaces, leading retreats, working abroad and bringing yoga into clinical, educational and therapeutic settings.

Some arrive knowing they want to teach full time. Others want to deepen an existing profession — as nurses, psychologists, therapists, teachers, bodyworkers or wellbeing practitioners. Some simply want yoga to become a more meaningful part of how they live.

Teach in studios and communities

Many graduates go on to teach regular classes, workshops and one-to-one sessions in yoga studios, gyms, community spaces and wellbeing settings.

Create something of your own

Some have opened studios, built independent teaching businesses and developed their own specialist offerings, events and communities.

Bring yoga into your existing profession

Graduates working in healthcare, psychology, education and therapeutic professions often integrate movement, breath, embodiment and regulation into the work they already do.

Retreats, travel and teaching abroad

Teacher training can open the door to retreat work, international teaching opportunities and a more flexible way of building yoga into your working life.

TEN YEARS OF THE BE YOGA ACADEMY

You become part of a community.

The training does not exist in isolation. You’ll spend time with teachers, mentors and graduates who have taken yoga in many different directions, and you’ll have a community around you while you work out what your own path might look like.

For many people, teacher training changes far more than their ability to teach a class. It changes the way they practise, understand their body, relate to other people and make decisions about how they want to spend their time.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

More than the training weekends.

Your course is supported by practice, study, mentoring and resources throughout the training, so the learning continues between each in-person module.

Practice credits

Credits to practise at The Be Collective during your training, giving you regular access to experienced teachers, different teaching styles and the wider studio community.

Interactive course manual

A living course resource developed and updated by Bryony each year, bringing together written material, reflection, practical work and online learning rather than relying on a single static manual.

Online tutorials & Zoom evenings

Guided online sessions between modules give you time to revisit key subjects, ask questions and stay connected to the training between in-person weekends.

Training library access

Access to our course library means you can work with key texts and recommended reading without needing to buy every book on the reading list.

Handmade mala beads

A handmade mala for your meditation and mantra practice, used as part of the contemplative side of the training and yours to keep.

Ongoing mentoring

Support continues as you develop your teaching, with opportunities for feedback, questions, observation and practical guidance throughout the course.

A training that stays with you between modules.

The course combines in-person weekends with home study, online learning, practice and community, giving you time to absorb the material and begin applying it gradually rather than trying to learn everything in one intensive block.

Class of 2023

Be Yoga Academy & Yoga with Bryony

Since 2011 we’ve been guiding students in the art of teaching yoga, we always have a small group, high-quality training with world-class tutors and ongoing mentor support.

I’m so glad I made the decision to do the training this year. It scratched the itch I had to understand this wonderful thing called yoga in more depth, but it gave me so much more, including friends for life. The teachers are supportive and kind, and really generous with their (huge) knowledge. Wish I could do it all again.

It was transformational and really allowed me to deepen my practice and embody yoga in a way I hoped it would. I’m teaching a bit too. I loved every moment.
Bryony Julie and Emma are all awesome.

I cannot recommend this training enough! I wanted to gain confidence in my abilities - although, I had wanted to complete my 200hr teaching training for some time, I had never felt “good enough” or capable in doing so. I was ready for yoga to become an integral part of my being; both physically and spiritually. I had a curiosity and thirst to know more. I wished to expand my knowledge and deepen and enrich my personal practice. I’m happy to say that this training gave me all of this and so much more! I feel truly blessed to have found my tribe. I wish I could relive it all over again
